Portfolio Manager | Founder
Ichiro Shawn Ishiguro, CFA
A cross-functional, multi-talented professional portfolio manager with progressive and extensive experience in equity research and analysis of fundamentals and application to investment management within global equities.
Shawn is an investment expert with more than twenty years of experience in global equities. He has extensive research and investment experience at small boutique investment teams. He has led the team as a principal and contributed to portfolio returns significantly and consistently through stock selection. Furthermore, he has successfully started new strategies and developed teams with his original approach, which is thought through extensively.
After structuring and managing corporate finance deals for private companies at a major Japanese financial service company, Shawn felt the need to refine his investment skills further. He moved to Philadelphia, where he began to learn US equity research and investment at an investment JV with Miller Anderson & Sherrerd, which Morgan Stanley AM later acquired as a junior analyst. Shawn then joined SBC/UBS Brinson, Japan’s second-largest institutional investment management company, as a portfolio manager to develop and integrate international equity investment with global investment. Later, he moved to Fortis Investments Japan, which merged with BNP Paribas AM with $250bn AUM and successfully launched a team of intensive bottom-up equity teams for a few years. In 2004, Shawn moved to Fortis USA in Boston as a senior global equity portfolio manager and technology sector leader, managing global equity portfolios for institutions worldwide and an investment trust in Europe and mutual funds in the US. In 2009, he moved to a worldwide investment boutique of Hermes Investment Management (Federated Hermes at present) with the team. He remained a senior leader in $1.5bn global equity investing and technology stock investing.
Equity research and investment management have been the pivotal axis throughout his career. Shawn’s vision of endlessly pursuing better investment by learning drove this axis initially. Based on his core philosophy, an investment professional has a mission-critical role as a pro to deliver value-added by the numbers and improve it to align objectives with clients’ interests.
