Ichiro Shawn Ishiguro, CFA
A cross-functional, multi-talented professional portfolio manager with progressive and extensive experience in equity research and analysis of fundamentals and application to investment management within global equities.
Shawn is an investment expert with significant experience in active and bottom-up global equities for over twenty years. He has extensive research and investment experience at small boutique investment teams of focused fundamental global equity, where he led the team as a principal and contributed portfolio return significantly and consistently through stock selection. In addition, he has successful experiences of starting a new strategy and developing a team with his original approach that is thought through extensively.
After structured and managed corporate finance deals for private companies at a major Japanese financial service company, he felt there is a significant requirement for the refinement of investment skills in the industry. Shawn moved to Philadelphia, where an investment JV with Miller Anderson & Sherrerd, which Morgan Stanley AM acquired later, had a junior analyst position where he began to learn US equity research and investment. Shawn joined SBC/UBS Brinson as a portfolio manager, the second-largest institutional investment management company in Japan to develop and integrate international equity investment with global investment. He moved to Fortis Investments Japan, which merged with BNP Paribas AM with $250bn AUM later, and launched a team of intensive bottom-up equity teams for a few years successfully. In 2004 Shawn moved to Fortis USA in Boston as a senior global equity portfolio manager and the global technology sector leader, managing global equity portfolios for institutions worldwide as well as an investment trust in Europe and mutual funds in the US. In 2009 he moved to a global investment boutique of Hermes Investment Management (Federated Hermes at present), together with the team, and remained a senior leader of $1.5bn global equity investing as a whole and technology stock investing.
